[:en]An enthusiastic audience was the perfect scenario for the talk: “Life on Earth and Other Worlds” given by MAS Deputy Director, Dante Minniti, as part of UNAB’s Second International Conference on Scientific Culture, which took place on October 20th, 22th and 23th at Centro Cultural Palacio de La Moneda.
In this opportunity, the researcher shared with the attendees the latest advances in the search for new planets and – which generated greater public interest – the characteristics they must have to harbor life. “We do not know if there is life outside the Earth, but we have come a long way in finding that answer. A potentially habitable planet would have to be similar in size and mass to the Earth, where the surface water remains in a liquid state,” he explained.
Afterward, Dante Minniti participated in the roundtable “The Origin of Life,” along with leading national and international scientists.

Photo Conference: UNAB’s Center for Science Communication[:es]Un entusiasmado público fue el escenario perfecto para el desarrollo de la charla “La Vida en la tierra y otros mundos”, dictada por el Subdirector de MAS, Dante Minniti en el marco de la Segunda Conferencia Internacional de Cultura Científica UNAB que se desarrolló el 20,22 y 23 de octubre en el Centro Cultural Palacio de La Moneda.
En la oportunidad, el investigador compartió con los asistentes los últimos avances en la búsqueda de nuevos planetas y – lo que generó mayor interés del público- las características que deben tener para albergan vida. “No sabemos si hay vida fuera de la Tierra, pero hemos avanzado mucho para encontrar esa respuesta. Un planeta potencialmente habitable tendría que ser de tamaño y masa similar a la Tierra, donde el agua superficial permanece en estado líquido”, explicó.
Posteriormente, Dante Minniti participó de la mesa redonda “El Origen de la Vida”, junto a destacados científicos nacionales e internacionales.
