[:en]MAS Astronomical Gatherings try to amaze the audience with different astronomical topics.
Researchers from MAS will carry out three different talks in Santiago, Valparaíso and Concepcion as part of the activities that more than twenty institutions in the astronomy field will perform all over the country for the 2015 Astronomy Day.
This is the second time that the Astronomy Day is carried out to celebrate the significance of this science in Chile and let people know the real value of our country as the world’s capital of astronomy. MAS will be present, joining the initiatives headed by Planetario de Santiago, Conicyt, Explora Program and the Chilean Astronomical Society (SOCHIAS, by its acronyms in Spanish) with the Astronomical Gatherings MAS.
This Friday, March 20th at 11:00 hrs. at Universidad de Concepcion, Professor Wolfgang Gieren, MAS Associated Researcher and member of the Astronomy Department of Universidad de Concepción will deliver the talk: “The distance to the galaxies and the evolution of the Universe”
On Saturday 21th at 11:30 hrs at Biblioteca de Santiago (Santiago Library), Professor Alejandro Clocchiatti, MAS Associated Researcher and member of the Institute of Astrophysics of Universidad Católica de Chile will give a talk named “Chile, an open window to the Universe, an open door to the future,” while on the same day at 18:30 at Universidad de Valparaíso (UV), MAS Associated Researcher and member of UV’s Institute of Physics and Astronomy, Professor Radostin Kurtev will close the activities with the talk “Cold and strange worlds, the discovery and constitution of brown dwarfs.”

[:es]Tertulias Astronómicas MAS pretende encantar al público con distintas temáticas astronómicas.
Investigadores del Instituto Milenio de Astrofísica MAS realizarán tres charlas paralelas en Santiago, Valparaíso y Concepción en el marco de las actividades conjuntas que más de 20 instituciones del área astronómica desarrollarán a lo largo de todo el país para celebrar el Día de la Astronomía 2015.
Es segunda vez que se celebra esta jornada para conmemorar la importancia de esta ciencia en Chile e incorporar a la ciudadanía en la valoración de nuestro país como capital astronómica del mundo. MAS no estará ausente sumándose a las iniciativas encabezadas por el Planetario de Santiago, Conicyt – Programa Explora y la Sociedad Chilena de Astronomía (SOCHIAS) con las TERTULIAS ASTRONÓMICAS MAS.
El viernes 20 de marzo a las 11:00 AM en la Universidad de Concepción se realizará la charla “Las distancias a las galaxias y la evolución del Universo”, a cargo del Profesor Wolfgang Gieren, Investigador Asociado MAS y académico del Departamento de Astronomía UdeC.
El sábado 21 a las 11:30 horas en la Biblioteca de Santiago el Profesor Alejandro Clocchiatti, Investigador Asociado MAS y académico del Instituto de Astrofísica de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, dictará la charla “Chile una ventana abierta al Universo. Puerta abierta hacia el futuro”, mientras que, el mismo día a las 18:30 en la Universidad de Valparaíso, el investigador adjunto del MAS y académico del Instituto de Física y Astronomía de la UV, Profesor Radostin Kurtev, terminará la jornada con la charla “Mundos fríos y extraños. El descubrimiento y naturaliza de las enanas marrones”.
