[:en][fusion_text]The Milky Way and Andromeda are two of the largest galaxies in the so-called Local Group, a group of about 80 galaxies merged by gravity. Recent measures in its orbits will prove that these galaxies are getting closer constantly. According to researchers, a collision between them could happen in about 1,500 billion years, turning into a new elliptic galaxy called Lactómeda. There is no need to worry, however. This merger does not threat either the Solar System, nor planet Earth. the stars of each galaxy are so apart from each other in regard to their size that will not collide against each other, they will just redistribute in different orbits. Also, it is likely that the galaxy merger will cause the formation of many new stars.
