[:en]The activities began on Friday, May 25th with a talk on maternity organized by the millennium center dedicated to the study of depression. From that day on, and every two weeks, topics will take turns between astronomy and psychology with the idea that the audience can will see both, their inner and outer universe.
“The Sun; Our Star” by MAS researcher Álvaro Rojas Arriagada was the first astronomy workshop that is part of the “Conversations with Scientists” series organized by the Millennium Institute of Astrophysics MAS, the Millennium Institute for Research on Depression and Personality (MIDAP) and the Astro-Engineering Center AIUC of Universidad Católica for inmates of the Women’s Penitentiary Center of San Joaquin.
The initiative, which began on May 25th with a workshop on motherhood and attachment given by MIDAP researcher María Pía Santelices, seeks to invite the participants to discover their inner universe – with topics such as motherhood, attachment and self-esteem – while exploring the mysteries of the Cosmos. “What if we look within ourselves too?” is the main topic that will gather inmates and scientists from these two different areas every other week.
On MAS’ side, after a successful workshop about the Sun –attended by MAS Director Manuela Zoccali and researchers Rodrigo Contreras Ramos and Álvaro Rojas Arriagada, as well as the former executive director of the Millennium Science Initiative, Virginia Garretón, and in which the participants were able to look at our star through a solar telescope– other topics of interest such as the Moon, the Milky Way, the operation of the telescopes, among others, will be added.

Las actividades comenzaron el viernes 25 de mayo con la charla sobre maternidad organizada por el centro milenio dedicado al estudio de la depresión. Desde ese día y cada dos semanas, los temas irán turnándose entre astronomía y psicología con la idea de que las asistentes vean tanto su universo interior como exterior.
“El Sol; Nuestra Estrella” a cargo del investigador del MAS Álvaro Rojas Arriagada fue el primer taller de astronomía que se vivió en el marco del ciclo “Conversaciones con Científicos” organizado por el Instituto Milenio de Astrofísica MAS, el Instituto Milenio para la Investigación en Depresión y Personalidad (MIDAP) y el Centro de Astroingeniería de la Universidad Católica AIUC para internas del Centro Penitenciario Femenino de San Joaquín.
La iniciativa, que comenzó el 25 de mayo con un taller sobre maternidad y apego dictado por la investigadora Midap María Pía Santelices, busca invitar a las asistentes a conocer su universo interior – con temas como maternidad, apego y autoestima- al mismo tiempo que exploran los misterios del Cosmos. Con la premisa “¿Y, si miramos p´adentro también?” semana por medio podrán conversar con científicos de estas dos distintas áreas.
Desde el lado de la astronomía, luego de un exitoso taller acerca del Sol, al que asistieron la directora del MAS Manuela Zoccali y los investigadores Rodrigo Contreras Ramos y Álvaro Rojas Arriagada, además de la ex directora ejecutiva de la Iniciativa Científica Milenio Virginia Garretón y en que las participantes pudieron mirar nuestra estrella a través de un telescopio solar, se le sumarán otros temas de interés como la Luna, la Vía Láctea, el funcionamiento de los telescopios, entre otros.
