The Earth is our place and, as far as we know, the only planet that harbor life in the whole Universe. Its position in the Solar System makes it unique since it is int he right position to contain liquid water in its surface. The Earth has only one natural satellite, the Moon, that until date has been the largest distance ever travelled by the human being.

Erosion, geological activity, and atmosphere protection have prevented the Erath’s surface from looking like this picture of the Moon, full of impact craters.

If it weren’t for the atmosphere, the temperature on Earth would be -20°C. Besides, this thin shell protects us from meteorite impacts and harmful radiations. [credits NASA]
